FOURRESEARCHAREAS
FORTHEVEHICLE
OFTHEFUTURE
Fourdevelopmentareaswere identified in thecontextof theR&Dpro-
gram employedby LISI AUTOMOTIVE in support of projects initiated
bycarmakersandOEMs tovisualize thevehiclesof tomorrow.
1
Thestandalonevehicle
These projects are focused on themanagement
of fastener systems for the onboard electronic
equipment necessary for the operation of these
vehicles of the future, such as sensors, radar or
cameras.
2
Driversafety
with the development of braking applications
and next generation airbags, such as pedes-
trian airbags.
3
Vehicleweight reduction
with the introductionof new compositematerials.
Associated projects concern the continuing deve-
lopment of parts inplasticor aluminum, designed
for premium vehicles.
4

ANEWR&DCENTER
ATGRANDVILLARS
Designed to support teams from each Business Group,
as well as to offer our customers a testing and resource
center forvalidatingsolutions,productsorprocesses, the
new researchcenteratGrandvillarshasbeenoperational
since summer 2014. Occupying the first floor of the new
LISI AUTOMOTIVE headquarters, it accommodates seve-
ral spacious laboratories, equipped to facilitate collabo-
rativework.
Threestate-of-the-art laboratories
The Computing Center is responsible for product
validation and simulation of production processes:
forging,stampingandplastic injection. It isequippedwith
state-of-the-art finite element computing stations with
the most powerful software available. The Functional
Testing Laboratory houses test benches used to charac-
terize assemblies and mechanical components in use.
Finally, theMaterials and Treatments Laboratory has all
the equipment necessary for the characterization and
developmentofnewmetallurgiesandsurfacetreatments.
Evaluationsandprojectmanagement
The technical and human resources available at Grand-
villarsmust support growthby innovation, guarantee the
reliability of our products and respond to the needs of
our clients. Evaluations carriedout in these three labora-
tories,aswellasprojectscarriedoutthere,canrespondto
